Motorcycle chain maintenance is one of those jobs that sounds simple — clean it, adjust it, lube it — but there’s a surprising amount of conflicting advice about how you should actually do it. In this video I’m going right back to basics and show you how to look after a motorcycle chain properly. This is aimed particularly at new riders or anyone who’s never really been shown how to maintain a chain. We look at how motorcycle chains actually work, why they appear to “stretch”, O-rings and sealed chains, how to check your chain condition and tension, and when adjustment is actually necessary. Then we get hands-on: cleaning the chain, choosing the right products, adjusting the tension correctly and looking at where chain lubricant actually needs to go — along with a few common myths and mistakes. I also try out the Sprocket Zone chain tool, which was supplied to me, to see whether it actually makes the messy business of cleaning and lubricating a chain any easier. We probably took this test a little further than Bluroc expected… 😂 The Bluroc X-Bongo is a tiny retro-styled motorcycle available in both 50cc and 125cc form. On paper, it looks like a quirky little commuter or learner bike. So naturally, Steve from SJT Motorcycles and I decided the sensible way to review it was to do pretty much everything you're probably not supposed to do with one. We take the X-Bongo on the road, off-road, two-up and generally mess about on it to find out whether a little motorcycle can actually deliver proper big-bike levels of fun. And that's really the point of this video. Motorcycling doesn't always need 200bhp, £20,000 superbikes and electronic suspension. Sometimes a tiny bike, a mate and a questionable idea are all you need. The 2026 Honda CB1000F is supposed to be Honda’s sensible new retro. Comfortable, easy-going, nostalgic and powered by a detuned Fireblade-derived engine making around 120bhp. So why did I end up riding it like a sportsbike? In this review I wanted to find out whether there’s more to the CB1000F than the retro styling. Because underneath the old-school looks is a thoroughly modern litre-class naked bike — and it turns out it has something of a split personality. We’ll look at why Honda deliberately gave the Fireblade-derived engine less peak power, whether 120bhp is actually “slow”, how the CB1000F behaves when you start pushing it, and whether a softer, slower motorcycle can actually be more entertaining on a British B-road. I also cover the comfort, chassis, styling, TFT dash, lack of a standard quickshifter and the oil-consumption recall — including why I think some of the internet discussion around engine failures needs a little perspective. But ultimately this review comes down to one question: Is the Honda CB1000F a comfortable retro road bike… or a modern naked bike wearing a 1980s suit? Turns out, it's both.
