Triumph Teases Its 2027 Line-Up: A Street Triple 798 and Two New Tigers Are Coming

3 min read

Triumph has just given us a first look at four new models for 2027, and one name immediately grabbed my attention: Street Triple 798.

A bigger engine developed for the next generation of Moto2, wrapped in an even more performance-focused Street Triple? Yes, you have my attention.

But there’s more to this announcement than a new triple to get excited about. Triumph is also introducing a Bonneville T40, updating the Tiger 1200 and preparing a new Tiger 900.

The reveals are being spread across the next three months. Here’s what’s confirmed, what’s still under wraps and what I’ll be watching for.

Bonneville T40: A Smaller Entry into the Bonneville Family

First up is the Bonneville T40 and T40 Black, revealed on 6 October.

These bring the familiar Bonneville styling to a new iteration of Triumph’s 400cc TR Series engine, with relaxed ergonomics and the attention to detail you’d expect from the family.

That’s an interesting move. The Bonneville name carries a lot of history, but you don’t necessarily need a big-capacity engine to enjoy the look or the experience.

For riders who want traditional styling in a smaller-capacity package, I can see the appeal. Whether Triumph gets the balance of price, finish and performance right will be the important bit.

The T40 and T40 Black are due to become available globally in late spring 2027. This particular announcement doesn’t include their full specifications or pricing, so I’ll leave those figures until we have the details.

Tiger 1200: More Performance, More Refinement

Next on the calendar is the new Tiger 1200, with its full reveal set for 27 October 2026.

Triumph says it gets a distinctive new look, an updated 1200cc triple engine, increased performance and improved refinement.

It’s also promising advanced rider technology and the most sophisticated suspension package ever fitted to a Triumph motorcycle.

That’s quite a claim.

For me, the interesting question is how those changes translate to riding. More power is easy to put in a headline, but on a big adventure bike, suspension control, low-speed manners and comfort can make a much bigger difference to your day.

We don’t yet have the figures or the suspension details to judge it properly. But Triumph is clearly promising more than a new colour scheme here.

Street Triple 798: This Is the One I’m Watching

The all-new Street Triple 798 gets its specification reveal on 17 November 2026.

Triumph has confirmed that its 798cc engine has been developed for the 2027 Moto2 championship, and says the new bike will be even more performance-focused than previous models.

No confirmed power figure. No weight. No detailed chassis specification yet.

Still, this is the announcement that interests me most.

The Street Triple has long had the sort of appeal that makes sense to me: a sporty naked bike that puts the emphasis on the riding. The prospect of a new engine with that Moto2 connection gives us plenty to look forward to.

My hope is that Triumph keeps the focus on the complete package. More capacity and more performance sound great, but I’ll be just as interested in the handling, throttle response and how usable it feels on a British road.

The new Street Triple 798 and Tiger 1200 are both scheduled to appear at EICMA and Motorcycle Live, giving riders a chance to see them in the metal.

Tiger 900: Don’t Overlook the Middleweight

The final reveal is the new Tiger 900, scheduled for 15 December 2026.

Triumph is promising a more powerful and refined engine, an upgraded chassis, enhanced rider technology and next-generation connectivity fitted as standard.

Again, the detail is still to come.

Of the two Tigers, this is the one I’d be particularly interested to compare with its predecessor. A middleweight adventure bike has to balance touring comfort, everyday practicality and manageable size. Improvements that preserve that balance could be more useful than simply chasing bigger numbers.

The Dates to Remember

  • 6 October 2026: Bonneville T40 and T40 Black revealed.

  • 27 October 2026: New Tiger 1200 reveal.

  • 17 November 2026: Street Triple 798 specification reveal.

  • 15 December 2026: New Tiger 900 reveal.

My Take

There’s a good spread here: a smaller Bonneville, two updated adventure bikes and a new Street Triple with a Moto2-linked engine.

The Street Triple 798 is comfortably top of my watch list. But the T40 could be just as significant if it brings the Bonneville experience within reach of more riders.

For now, we’ve got enough information to be interested, but plenty of unanswered questions. Prices, specifications and how these bikes actually ride will decide whether the excitement is justified.

Which one would you want to see me ride first: the Bonneville T40, Tiger 1200, Street Triple 798 or Tiger 900?
